Carlsberg Azerbaijan once again supported the large-scale environmental campaign “Let’s Protect the Caspian!” The campaign, which took place from September 1 to 20, covered beaches along the Caspian Sea in Lankaran, Astara, Neftchala, Khachmaz, Siyazan, Sumgait, and Baku.
Organized within the framework of International Coastal Cleanup Day, the goal of the campaign was to improve the environmental situation in Azerbaijan, raise awareness among the population about recycling, and promote a responsible attitude toward the environment.
As part of the “Let’s Protect the Caspian!” initiative, the final cleanup activity took place at Bilgah Beach in Baku. This year, with the participation of over 1,300 volunteers, more than 5 tons of waste were collected from the coastal areas.
The Carlsberg Azerbaijan team also actively participated in the campaign, contributing to the cleaning of the Caspian beaches. Additionally, throughout the campaign, the company provided volunteers with Khirdalan 0.0, the first locally produced alcohol-free beverage in the country.
Alius Antulis, Managing Director of Carlsberg Azerbaijan, stated that the company supports environmental projects in the countries where it operates in line with its global sustainability strategy “Together Towards ZERO and Beyond”: “For over six years, Carlsberg Azerbaijan has been one of the key partners of the ‘Let’s Protect the Caspian!’ campaign. Over the years, we have taken consistent steps toward protecting environmental values and building a waste-free future. The amount of waste collected today during the cleanup with our employees and partners shows that our joint efforts are delivering real results. I believe that even more companies and organizations will join this initiative in the future, and I invite everyone to unite for a cleaner Caspian.”
In addition to Carlsberg Azerbaijan, the main partners of the campaign included the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, Coca-Cola, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), the environmental platform EcoHub, AmCham, PwC Azerbaijan, and McDonald’s.
It is worth noting that International Coastal Cleanup Day, established in 1986, is celebrated in more than 100 countries around the world. Azerbaijan has participated in this initiative for 16 years under the slogan “Let’s Protect the Caspian!”
The “Together Towards ZERO and Beyond” global sustainability program is Carlsberg Group’s long-term strategy aimed at reducing environmental impact across the entire value chain by 2040.
The company’s sustainability program is built around ambitions such as ZERO carbon footprint, ZERO agricultural waste, ZERO water waste, ZERO irresponsible consumption, ZERO packaging waste, and ZERO accidents.
